Salsa Picante (Hot Sauce) Recipe
- 1 (12 ounce.) can tomato paste
- 2 sm. to med. onions
- 2-3 sm. green bell peppers
- 1/2 c. minced black olives
- 1 (16 ounce.) can stewed tomatoes
- 4-5 fresh jalapeno peppers Or possibly same canned (fresh preferred)
- 1 tbsp. crushed red pepper
- 1 tbsp. basil
- 1/2 teaspoon tarragon
- 2 tbsp. lemon juice
- 5-6 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1/2 tbsp. oregano
- Finely chop onions, green pepper.
- Mince garlic (or possibly crush finely).
- Dice stewed tomatoes and jalapenos (handle very carefully or possibly wear gloves!
- - will burn skin if not cautious).
- Combine and mix well with all remaining ingredients.
- Let stand 1 hour.
- Chill.
- Serve as garnish for tacos and other Mexican dishes, or possibly as a spicy dip with corn tortilla chips.
- Also excellent with nachos!
