Banana Ginger Syrup

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the wine, water, sugar and ginger.
  2. Bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat to medium low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until reduced to .5 cup.
  4. It will take about 15 minutes.
  5. Melt the butter in a saute pan.
  6. Add bananas, cut side down.
  7. Add five spice and cook until golden brown -- about 2 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat.
  9. Transfer to a bowl and pour the hot syrup onto the bananas and gently toss.
  10. Let stand at least 10 minutes.
