Sweet Potato & Purple Yam Chakin Simple Sweet Potato

  1. The steps are the same for each color.
  2. Wash the sweet potato and steam it in a steamer to soften.
  3. Peel it while it's still hot and use a hand mixer or a masher to mash it.
  4. Add to a pot, and then add the melted butter, heavy cream, maple syrup, egg yolk, sugar, and rum.
  5. Heat the mixture on medium heat, stirring quickly.
  6. While heating, combine the mixture well, and once everything has cooked through remove from it the heat and leave it to cool in a try.
  7. Since we're going to be shaping it we want it to stiffen up.
  8. Use a wrap to combine equal amounts of each color of potato mixture and squeeze them into a chakin ball-shape to complete.
