Sweet Potato & Purple Yam Chakin Simple Sweet Potato
- 250 grams Asian sweet potato
- 250 grams Purple sweet potato
- 25 ml Fresh cream
- 30 grams Butter
- 1 dash Rum (optional)
- 2 tbsp Maple syrup
- 3 tbsp White sugar
- 1/2 Egg yolk (OK if you don't use)
- The steps are the same for each color.
- Wash the sweet potato and steam it in a steamer to soften.
- Peel it while it's still hot and use a hand mixer or a masher to mash it.
- Add to a pot, and then add the melted butter, heavy cream, maple syrup, egg yolk, sugar, and rum.
- Heat the mixture on medium heat, stirring quickly.
- While heating, combine the mixture well, and once everything has cooked through remove from it the heat and leave it to cool in a try.
- Since we're going to be shaping it we want it to stiffen up.
- Use a wrap to combine equal amounts of each color of potato mixture and squeeze them into a chakin ball-shape to complete.
