Whole Wheat Biscuit Crackers Recipe
- 1 c. whole wheat flour
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 tbsp. baking pwdr
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 c. butter, softened
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
- Heat oven to 350 degrees.
- Mix all ingredients, except butter and buttermilk, in large bowl.
- Cut in butter till mix resembles fine crumbs.
- Stir in the buttermilk till dough leaves side of bowl and rounds up into a ball.
- Turn dough onto well floured surface.
- Knead lightly 10 times.
- Roll dough 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut with floured 1 3/4 inch biscuit cutter.
- Place about 1/2 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake 10 to 12 min till light brown.
- Reduce oven to 300 degrees.
- Cut warm biscuits in half with sharp knife.
- Place, cut side up, on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake 15 min till crackers appear dry.
- Store in air-tight container.
