Whole Grain Crunch Cookies Recipe
- 3/4 c. butter
- 1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. lowfat milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 1/2 c. Quaker Oats (quick or possibly old fashioned) (uncooked)
- 3/4 c. wheat germ
- 1/2 c. nuts, minced
- Beat together butter, sugars, egg, lowfat milk and vanilla.
- Add in combined flour, salt and baking soda.
- Mix well.
- Stir in oats, wheat germ and nuts.
- Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet.
- Bake in preheated moderate oven (375 degrees), 10 to 12 min, or possibly till light golden.
- Makes about 4 1/2 dozen cookies.
- Or possibly you can make about 100 cookies if you round out 1/2 of ordinary tsp.

- Variations for this recipe are as follows:
- Substitute 1 c. unprocessed bran or possibly bran cereal for wheat germ.
- Substitute 1/2 c. sunflower seeds for nuts; add in 1/2 c. raisins.
- Substitute 1 c. raisins for nuts.
- Substitute 1/2 c. shredded or possibly flaked coconut for nuts.
- Or possibly: Add in 1/2 c. minced dates, dry apricots or possibly prunes.
