Brown Bread--With Leftover Crumbs of Any Kind

  1. Let sit overnight---the leftover goodies to make the crumbs and the buttermilk, till the mixture is soft; put through a seive.
  2. Dissolve the baking soda in the hot water and add the molasses; mix together just to blend.
  3. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
  4. If more liquid is needed--used hot water a little at a time.
  5. Put in two greased 1-pound coffee cans and steam for 3 hours.
