Metropolitan Life Baking Powder Biscuits
- 2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 14 cup lard or 14 cup shortening
- 34 cup milk
- Preheat oven to 425F.
- Sift together dry ingredients.
- Blend in lard with pastry blender or with finger tips.
- Mixture should resemble coarse cornmeal.
- Add enough milk to make a soft dough which can be handled, stirring with a fork.
- Turn out onto slightly floured board and knead for about 1/2 a minute.
- Roll or pat into 1/2 inch thickness.
- Cut with 2 inch floured biscuit cutter or glass.
- Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 12-15 minutes.
