Supreme Stromboli
- 1/2 whole Red Pepper, Sliced Thin
- 1/2 whole Green Pepper, Sliced Thin
- 1/2 whole Red Onion, Sliced Thin
- 1 Tablespoon Minced Garlic
- 1/2 pounds Italian Sausage (reduced Fat Preferred)
- 1 package Pizza Dough, About 10 Oz
- 1/2 packages Pepperoni Slices, About 30 Slices
- 1- 1/2 cup Mozzarella Cheese, Shredded
- 1/4 cups Butter Or Margarine, Melted
- 2 teaspoons Pizza Seasoning (optional)
- 2 Tablespoons Corn Meal
- 1 jar Pizza Sauce, 8 Oz.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- In a skillet over medium heat saute the peppers, onion and garlic for about 4 minutes.
- Remove veggies from pan.
- Next, brown the sausage in the skillet over medium heat until no pink shows; drain grease.
- Set sausage aside for assembly.
- Lay pizza dough flat on your counter (or on a cookie sheet if you are not using a pizza peel).
- Distribute pepperoni slices and sausage over one half/side of the dough (youre eventually going to fold the other half of the dough over to create the stromboli).
- Add the veggies.
- Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
- Fold dough over and pinch ends and sides together.
- Cut slits in the top of the stromboli and brush melted butter on it.
- Sprinkle with pizza seasoning.
- Place the corn meal on your pizza peel to allow the stromboli to come off easily.
- If you are not using a pizza peel and pizza stone, sprinkle corn meal onto your baking sheet directly below where you will place the stromboli.
- Cook in a preheated oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Slice into individual sections to serve with warm pizza or marinara sauce.
- **The cornmeal is completely optional in this recipe.
- Although, I do like the texture and crunch it adds it is not a recipe breaker to not have it.
