Calzones
- 1 loaf frozen bread dough, thawed
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1 egg yolk beaten with 1 tsp. milk
- 1/2 lb. sausage
- 1 small onion, chopped
- small jar pizza sauce
- 1/2 c. Mozzarella
- 1 egg white, slightly beaten
- Brown sausage, add onion and garlic, saute.
- Stir in sauce and spices.
- Simmer 5 minutes; remove from heat and cool.
- Add the cheese and beaten whole egg.
- Mix well.
- Punch down thawed dough and divide into 6 equal pieces.
- Roll into a circle.
- Spoon filling onto dough.
- Brush edges with egg white and fold in half, pinching edges to seal with a fork.
- Brush egg yolk and milk mixture lightly on top.
- Prick with fork.
- Bake on greased baking sheet at 425u0b0 for 12 minutes.
- Pepperoni, peppers, mushrooms and olives can also be added.
