Peeling Chestnuts Using a Pressure Cooker
- Make a cut into the rough base of each chestnut with a knife.
- Put the chestnuts in a pressure cooker and add enough water to cover.
- Seal the lid of the pressure cooker and turn on the heat.
- Once the pressure valve rises, heat for 8 more minutes.
- Open the lid after the pressure drops (if you're in a hurry to open the pot, cool it down with water first to release the pressure).
- Push your fingers into the incision and peel off the outer shell.
- Cut into the inner skin with a knife and peel.
- The inner skins should come off smoothly.
- Voila!
