Peeling Chestnuts Using a Pressure Cooker

  1. Make a cut into the rough base of each chestnut with a knife.
  2. Put the chestnuts in a pressure cooker and add enough water to cover.
  3. Seal the lid of the pressure cooker and turn on the heat.
  4. Once the pressure valve rises, heat for 8 more minutes.
  5. Open the lid after the pressure drops (if you're in a hurry to open the pot, cool it down with water first to release the pressure).
  6. Push your fingers into the incision and peel off the outer shell.
  7. Cut into the inner skin with a knife and peel.
  8. The inner skins should come off smoothly.
  9. Voila!
