Barley Kugel Recipe

  1. Stir the barley into the water.
  2. Bring to a boil; add in the salt, cover and cook over low heat 45 min or possibly till soft.
  3. Drain.
  4. Brown the mushrooms and onions in the fat or possibly butter.
  5. Add in to the barley with the pepper and Large eggs.
  6. Taste for seasoning.
  7. Turn into a greased baking dish or possibly casserole.
  8. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 40 min or possibly till browned and set.
  9. Serves 6 as a substitute for potatoes.
