Penne in Spicy Vodka Sauce
- 1 pound Penne Pasta
- 1/2 cups Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 package (about 5 Links) Italian Sausage
- 1 teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
- 3 cloves Garlic, Minced
- 2 cans 28 Oz Crushed Tomatoes
- 1/2 cups Vodka
- 1- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
- Cook the pasta until al dente and then drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet heat the oil over moderate heat.
- Remove the casings from the sausage and add it to the oil, breaking up the meat, until brown.
- If there is a ton of grease, you may want to drain it off at this point.
- Then add red pepper flakes and garlic and saute until the garlic is golden brown.
- Add tomatoes, vodka and salt.
- Bring to a boil; reduce heat.
- Simmer for 15 minutes.
- Add the cream and bring to a boil; reduce heat and cook for a few minutes until heated through.
- Toss the pasta with the sauce.
- Serve!
