Apple And Cinnamon Sponge Dessert Recipe
- 4 x apples, Granny Smith
- 1 Tbsp. water
- 1/2 c. sugar (caster)
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon, grnd
- 100 gm butter
- 1/2 c. sugar (caster)
- 2 x Large eggs
- 1/4 c. lowfat milk
- 1 1/4 c. flour, plain
- 2 tsp baking pwdr
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp vanilla essence
- Peel, core and slice apples 5mm.
- Place the apples in a saucepan with the 1/2 c. sugar, cinnamon and the water.
- Cover and cook gently for 5 min till tender.
- Pour the warm apples into a 20cm pie dish and sprinkle with cinnamon.
- *Cake Mix:Sift the flour, baking pwdr and salt together.
- Beat the butter and sugar in mixer till creamed, add in the Large eggs one at a time, then 1 Tblsp of the flour, the lowfat milk and vanilla.
- Mix in the remaining flour by hand without losing volume in the mix.
- Pour over the Warm apples and spread the mix proportionately.
- (it's important which the apples are warm when the cake mix goes in)
- Bake at 190C/380F for 30-35 min till set and lightly coloured.
- Serve with custard and cream.
- A quick and easy dessert.
