Mincemeat Recipe
- 2 pound lean beef or possibly veal, minced
- 4 pound apples
- 2 1/2 pound raisins
- 4 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon mace
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 pound suet, grnd
- 1/4 pound citron, grnd
- 1/2 c. molasses
- Grape juice or possibly cider or possibly water
- Pare, core and chop apples.
- Combine with remaining ingredients.
- Add in water, cider or possibly grape juice to moisten.
- Simmer till meats and fruits are tender, and flavors are blended.
- If you like, any other fruit juice may be substituted.
- Pack in freshly sterilized jars and seal.
