Farmer's Bran Bread
- 2 cups flour, all-purpose
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 each eggs
- 1 cup bran
- 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening melted
- 2 tablespoons butter melted
- 1 cup sour milk
- Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and salt in bowl.
- Beat egg, add sour milk and bran; stir to mix.
- Add melted shortening and stir into flour mixture.
- Place on floured board and roll to 1/2-inch thickness.
- Cut into rectangles 2 x 3 inches.
- Brush top with melted butter.
- Form loaf by placing rectangle on edge in pan and bake in moderate oven.
