Blonde Brownies
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2/3 c. margarine
- 2 eggs
- 1 (6 oz.) pkg. (1 c.) semi-sweet chocolate chip pieces
- 1 2/3 c. walnuts or pecans
- 1/2 c. chocolate pieces
- 1 tsp. shortening
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 2 c. packed brown sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- Grease a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
- Combine flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda.
- Beat margarine in a large bowl with electric mixer for 30 seconds.
- Add brown sugar and beat until well combined.
- Add eggs and vanilla and beat well.
- Add the flour mixture to the beaten mixture.
- Beat at low speed just until combined.
- Stir in 1 cup chocolate pieces and pecans.
- Spread batter in prepared pan.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 30 minutes.
- Melt 1/2 cup chocolate pieces left and shortening in a small pan and heat over low heat.
- Drizzle over bars.
