Fresh Whole Cranberry Sauce

  1. If using whole allspice and cloves, securely wrap them up in cheesecloth so it's easy to retrieve later.
  2. If using ground spices, bring water, sugar and spices to a boil in medium saucepan until sugar has dissolved and mixture is syrupy.
  3. Add whole cranberries and when they just begin to pop remove from flame.
  4. Add grated orange zest and refrigerate at least one hour.
