French Meat Pies

  1. Place beef, pork, onion, salt and pepper in a deep pan.
  2. Add water to cover meat.
  3. Bring to a boil.
  4. Cover and lower heat to simmer.
  5. Continue cooking for about 6 hours, making sure that there is always just enough water to cover the meat.
  6. After 6 hours, season to taste.
  7. Crush crackers and add to the meat, a little at a time, until thickened.
  8. Prepare pie crusts (enough for 4 pie tins). Fill with meat mixture and add top crust.
  9. Bake at 325u0b0 until top crust is golden brown.
  10. Makes 4 large pies.
  11. Recipe may be cut in half.
