Anne's New York Beef Stew
- 3 lbs boneless beef cubes
- 1 large onion, sliced lengthwise
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 -3 dashes Tabasco sauce
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 34 cup Heinz ketchup
- 14 cup water
- 2 -3 tablespoons oil
- 3 stalks celery, sliced on diagonal
- 4 carrots, sliced
- 1 bay leaf
- salt
- Add oil to dutch oven and add beef cubes.
- Let the meat brown and then add the onion, garlic, bay leaf, Tabasco and worcestershire sauce.
- Mix well and continue to cook.
- In a measuring cup, combine the ketchup and water and stir to make a gravy.
- Add to pot, add salt to taste.
- Cook over a medium heat for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Add water to thin the gravy, if needed.
