German Chocolate Saucepan Brownies

  1. Heat oven to 350F
  2. Grease bottom only of 8 or 9-inch square pan.
  3. In medium saucepan, melt 1/2 cup margarine and chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly.
  4. Cool slightly.
  5. Add sugar and vanilla; blend well.
  6. Add eggs; beat well.
  7. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off.
  8. Add flour, baking powder and salt; mix well.
  9. Spread in greased pan.
  10. Bake at 350F for 18 to 23 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  11. Remove brownies from oven.
  12. Set oven to broil.
  13. In small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons margarine, brown sugar, corn syrup and milk; blend well.
  14. Stir in coconut and pecans.
  15. Drop mixture by teaspoonfuls evenly over warm brownies; spread gently.
  16. Broil 4 inches from heat for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes or until bubbly.
  17. Cool completely.
  18. Cut into bars.
