Okra and Tomatoes I

  1. Cook bacon in large skillet over medium heat until crisp.
  2. Drain the bacon and reserve 2 tablespoons of bacon drippings in skillet; crumble bacon.
  3. Dredge okra in flour.
  4. Saute onion in bacon drippings until tender.
  5. Add okra; cook stirring occasionally for 5 minutes.
  6. Stir in tomatoes and sugar.
  7. Cook over low heat stirring occasionally 6 to 8 minutes.
  8. Stir in the salt and pepper; sprinkle with bacon.
  9. Serve over rice, if desired.
