Best Pastry Apple Strudel Recipe
- 2 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 c. corn flakes
- 1 (3 lb.) bag apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 teaspoon grnd cinnamon
- 1 egg white
- Lowfat milk
- Combine flour and salt, cut in shortening.
- Beat egg yolk in measuring c. and add in sufficient lowfat milk to make 2/3 c. liquid.
- Mix well and stir into flour mix.
- Roll half of mix and lay on cookie sheet.
- Sprinkle with corn flakes.
- Top with sliced apples.
- Combine sugar and cinnamon.
- Sprinkle over apples.
- Roll second half of dough and put on top of apple mix.
- Seal edges.
- Cut slits in top.
- Beat egg white till frothy.
- Brush on top.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 50-60 min.
