Spicy Sausage and Arugula Pizza

  2. Preheat oven to 400 F.

  4. Heat a medium saucepan over high heat.
  5. Add sausage and cook, breaking it up into chunks with a wooden spoon as it cooks.
  6. Cook sausage, stirring occasionally, until it is cooked through, about 8 minutes.

  8. Remove cooked sausage to a bowl and return saucepan to the stove over medium heat.

  10. Add onion and garlic to saucepan and saute until onion is translucent, about 3 minutes.

  12. Add red pepper flakes, crushed tomatoes, salt, and pepper to saucepan and stir to combine.
  13. Bring sauce to a simmer, then remove from heat and set aside.

  15. Press pizza dough into a pizza pan.
  16. Top dough with tomato sauce, followed by the mozzarella, and finally the cooked Italian sausage.

  18. Bake pizza at 400 F for 15-20 minutes until cheese is melted and crust is lightly browned.
  19. Remove from oven.

  21. Top baked pizza with fresh arugula.
  22. I like to set it in a pile at the center of the pizza, but you could also give it a rough chop and scatter it over the top if you arent a big fan of huge arugula leaves.

  24. Slice and serve immediately.
