Chocolate Banana Cake

  1. Place chocolate
  2. in
  3. top of a double boiler; bring water to a boil.
  4. Reduce
  5. heat
  6. to
  7. low; cook until chocolate melts. Set aside to
  8. cool.
  9. Cream butter, gradually add sugar, beating well with
  10. an
  11. electric
  12. mixer.
  13. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after
  14. each addition.
  15. Combine flour, baking powder, soda and salt;
  16. add
  17. to
  18. creamed
  19. mixture
  20. alternately with banana, buttermilk
  21. and
  22. melted
  23. chocolate,
  24. beginning
  25. and ending with flour mixture.
  26. Mix
  27. well after each addition.
  28. Stir in vanilla and pecans.
  29. Spoon batter into
  30. 3
  31. (9-inch) greased and floured round cake pans.
  32. Bake at 350u0b0 for 30 minutes or until a wooden pick
  33. inserted
  34. in center comes out
  35. clean.
  36. Cool
  37. in
  38. pans
  39. 10 minutes;
  40. remove from pan and
  41. cool
  42. completely.
  43. Spread Chocolate Frosting between layers and on top and sides of cake.
