Creme Brulee French Toast

  1. Butter a 7 x 11" baking pan.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup.
  3. Heat until butter is melted.
  4. Bring to a boil and boil gently for 3 minutes.
  5. Pour into baking pan.
  6. Arrange apple slices in a single layer on top of the brown sugar mixture.
  7. Sprinkle with 1 Tbsp cinnamon and sugar mixture.
  8. Trim crusts from the French toast bread and arrange in the pan on top of the apples.
  9. In a small bowl, combine eggs, half and half, milk, vanilla, Grand Marnier, and salt.
  10. Beat until well mixed.
  11. Pour over bread.
  12. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for several hours or overnight.
  13. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350 .
  14. Sprinkle with 1 Tbsp cinnamon and sugar mixture.
  15. Bake uncovered for 40-45 minute or until puffed and edges are golden in color.
  16. Serve immediately.
  17. Serves 6.
  18. *Note: A cinnamon sugar mixture can be made with 2 Tbsp sugar and 1/8 tsp cinnamon.
  19. Stir until well mixed.
  20. Note: A great bread to use for this recipe is Pepperidge Farm French Toast, thickly sliced bread.
  21. It is swirled with brown sugar and cinnamon.
