Beef Stroganoff Stew Recipe
- 2 1/2 lb Beef stew meat
- 3 Tbsp. Vegetable oil
- 1/2 lb Mushrooms, sliced
- 1 x Onions, chopped
- 1 x Garlic cloves, chopped
- 3 Tbsp. All-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 c. Water, boiling
- 1 tsp Beef bouillon
- 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 c. Lowfat sour cream
- 2 Tbsp. Tomato paste
- 2 Tbsp. Parsley
- Brown meat in oil on all sides (about 15 min).
- Remove meat and saute/fry mushrooms, onion and garlic (about 5 min).
- Gradually add in flour to make a roux.
- Gradually add in water, bouillon, salt, 1 Tablespoons Worcestershire & meat.
- Add in meat, cover, and simmer till meat is tender (about1 1/2 hrs).
- Combine lowfat sour cream with tomato paste and remaining Worcestershire sauce.
- Stir into meat and heat through.
- Add in parsley and serve over broad noodles.
- NOTES : This isn't really a stew, it's just a way to make stroganoff using cheap beef.
- It's quite tasty, but I prefer the real thing.
