Mom's Fried Walnuts

  1. Preheat oil in a stock pot to 350 degrees (medium high heat).
  2. In a large stock pot boil water.
  3. Add Walnut halves and boil for 1 minute.
  4. Drain walnuts in a colander and rinse with very hot water.
  5. In a large bowl, gently stir walnuts with sugar until sugar dissolves.
  6. Let stand for 5 minutes if necessary.
  7. Fry walnuts in hot oil until golden brown (about 5 minutes).
  8. Drain walnuts and sprinkle slightly with salt.
