William-Sonoma Macaroni Nand Cheese

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions.
  2. Drain.
  3. Over medium-heat, melt butter in saucepan.
  4. Add flour and whisk it together with the butter until smooth and bubbly but not browned, about 2 minutes.
  5. Cook, continuing to whisk, until the mixture is smooth, thickened and gently boiling, 5 to 7 minutes.
  6. Remove the pan from the heat and add cheddar and parmesan cheeses.
  7. Whisk until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth.
  8. Cover with a lid and set aside.
  9. Pour cheese mixture over pasta and sprinkle with black pepper.
  10. Stir until blended.
  11. Serve immediately.
