Rutabagas with Caramelized Onions

  1. Melt 5 tablespoons butter in heavy large skillet over medium-low heat.
  2. Add onions and saute until brown, 40 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, cook rutabagas in large pot of boiling salted water until tender, about 20 minutes.
  4. Drain well.
  5. Melt 3 tablespoons butter in large skillet over medium-low heat.
  6. Add rutabagas; saute until heated through, about 10 minutes.
  7. Drizzle honey over.
  8. Gently stir in onions.
  9. Season with salt and pepper.
  10. (Can be made 3 hours ahead.
  11. Let stand at room temperature.
  12. Rewarm over medium-low heat.)
