Sweet Potato Mochi

  1. Rinse the sweet potato well, peel the skin and cut into 1 cm cubes.
  2. Put the sweet potato into a heat resistant bowl (dish).
  3. Add the ingredients to the bowl and mix well.
  4. Cover with cling film and microwave for 5 minutes 40 seconds ~ 6 minutes at 600W.
  5. Mash with a fork or a masher.
  6. Add ingredients in the order listed while it is hot.
  7. If you are using sliced cheese, break it up into small pieces before you add it.
  8. Shape the sweet potato dough into a size of your liking (1~1.5 cm thickness), and garnish with black sesame seeds on top.
  9. You can mix black sesame seeds in the sweet potato dough in Step 4 if you like.
  10. Combine the ingredients for the sweet and salty sauce in a bowl and mix well.
  11. Coat a frying pan with oil, cook the mochi dumplings (Step 5) over medium heat until golden brown on both sides.
  12. Then turn off the heat.
  13. You can brown the mochi dumplings nicely if you press them down with a spatula while cooking.
  14. Add the sauce mixture (Step 6) to the frying pan, then heat over medium-low heat.
  15. Make sure you turned off the heat before you add the sauce mixture as it easily burns.
  16. Shake the frying pan to coat the mochi dumplings with the sauce.
  17. Turn off the heat and transfer to a serving plate.
  18. This will keep you warm!
