Sour Milk Chocolate Cake Recipe
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- 3 Large eggs
- 1/2 c. cocoa, melted in 1/2 c. boiling water
- 2 1/2 c. flour, sifted
- 1 c. sour lowfat milk or possibly buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda, mixed with warm water
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- Healthy pinch of salt
- Mix all together.
- Bake in loaf pan at 325 degrees for 1/2 hour, then at 350 degrees till done.
- Bake in layer pan at 300 to 325 degrees.
- It takes about 35 to 45 min to bake this cake.
