Greek Sugar Cookies Recipe
- 1 c. (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 teaspoon licorice-flavored liqueur or possibly 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 c. flour
- Confectioners' sugar
- Heat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cream butter and 1/2 c. sugar in large mixer bowl till light and fluffy.
- Beat in egg yolk, liqueur or possibly almond extract.
- Using a wooden spoon, stir in flour till dough forms.
- Roll into 1 inch balls.
- Place on ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake till cookies are light brown on the bottom about 10 to 12 min.
- Cold on wire rack.
- While still hot sprinkle generously with confectioners' sugar.
- Cold completely on wire rack.
- Store in cookie tin.
- Makes about 4 dozen.
