Applesauce Fritters Recipe
- 4 lrg Egg
- 1/2 c. Lowfat milk
- 2 c. Applesauce
- 1 c. Sugar
- 1 c. Brown sugar
- 3 Tbsp. Vegetable oil
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- 1 Tbsp. Baking pwdr
- 1 tsp Baking soda
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 tsp Nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp Cloves
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 4 1/2 c. Flour, all-purpose Oil for deep frying
- In a medium bowl, beat the Large eggs foamy before beating in the lowfat milk, applesauce, two sugars, oil, and vanilla extract.
- Stir in the baking pwdr, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
- Gently stir in the flour, 1/2 c. at a time, till smooth.
- In a deep-fryer, preheat 3 to 4 inches of oil to 370 to 375 .
- When the oil is warm, drop the dough by tablespoonfuls into the oil and fry for 1 to 2 min, turning occasionally, till the fritters are golden.
- Using a slotted spoon, lift the doughnut from the oil and drain on a double thickness of paper towels or possibly on a wire rack for 1 to 2 min.
- Continue till all the doughnuts are cooked.
- Roll each in granulated sugar and serve hot or possibly cooled.
- Yield: 40 to 45 doughnuts.
