Campfire Calzones Recipe
- 2 Tbsp. Margarine or possibly butter,softened
- 8 slc White sandwich bread
- 1/2 c. Pizza sauce
- 2 c. Shredded Monterey Jack cheese ( 8 ounce.)
- 12 x Thin slices salami or possibly pepperoini ( 2 ounce.) Pizza sauce, if you like
- Heat coals or possibly gas grill.
- Spread margarine on 1 side of 2 slices of bread.
- Place 1 slice, margarine side out, on sandwich press.
- Spoon 2 Tbsp.
- of the pizza sauce onto the center of bread.
- Sprinkle with 1/2 c. of the cheese; top with 3 slices of the salami.
- Top with other bread slice, margarine side out.
- Close press; trim excess bread if necessary.
- Grill over campfire or possibly on grill 4 to 6 inches from medium heat 8 to 10 min, turning once, till bread is golden and cheese is melted.
- Repeat with remaining ingredients.
- Serve hot with pizza sauce.
- Yield: 4 servings
