Double Onion Hamburgers
- 1 large (2 cups) red onion, halved, sliced
- 2 medium (2 cups) white or yellow onion, halved, sliced
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon Dijon-style mustard
- 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 4 onion buns
- 8 (3/4-ounce) slices Land O Lakes Deli American
- Heat gas grill to medium or charcoal grill until coals are ash white.
- Combine all topping ingredients in 12-inch nonstick skillet.
- Cook over medium heat 10-15 minutes or until onions are softened.
- Remove from heat.
- Keep warm.
- Combine ground beef, salt and pepper in bowl.
- Shape into 4 patties.
- Place patties onto grill.
- Grill, turning once, 15-18 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 160F and meat is no longer pink in center.
- Place burgers onto bottom half of buns.
- Top each with 2 slices cheese; let melt slightly.
- Divide onion mixture evenly among burgers; place top half of bun over burger.
