Delicious Cooked over High Heat! Nikujaga (Simmered Meat and Potatoes)
- 200 grams Thinly siced pork offcuts
- 3 to 4 Potatoes
- 1 Onion
- 2 tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 1 tbsp Mirin
- 1 tbsp Sesame oil
- Peel off the skin of the potatoes and cut into a little bigger than bite size.
- Soak the potatoes in water for about 5 minutes.
- Cut the onion into 8 wedges.
- Heat a pan and pour sesame oil, then add the onions.
- Use high heat from here to the end!
- Don't flinch!
- When the onions have wilted, push to the side of the pan and stir fry the meat in the open space.
- When the meat color turns, add ingredients mixed together and stir fry.
- Add well drained potatoes and add water enough to cover 2/3 of the potatoes.
- Then cover with a lid and simmer.
- When the potatoes are soft, mix all together and evaporate the moisture (Add water if the potatoes are hard.)
