Round Steak And Gravy Recipe
- Crisco oil
- 2 round steaks (about 4 lbs.)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 lg. onions, minced
- 2 quarts. water
- 7 bouillon cubes
- 2 cans mushrooms
- Trim fat from steaks.
- Cut into cubes.
- Put sufficient oil into kettle to just lightly cover bottom.
- Brown meat, add in salt and pepper.
- Add in onion, cook till glossy.
- Pour 2 qts water over meat.
- Keep water level over meat during cooking.
- Add in bouillon cubes.
- Simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hrs.
- Add in mushrooms.
- Mix 1/2 c. flour and 1 c. cool water for gravy.
- Add in to meat and simmer 15 to 20 min.
- Serve over rice or possibly mashed potatoes.
- (Leftovers freeze well.)
