German Chocolate Cake And Filling
- 1 pkg. German sweet chocolate
- 1/2 c. boiling water
- 1/2 c. margarine (1 stick)
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- 4 eggs, separated
- 3 c. plain flour, sifted
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- Melt German chocolate in boiling water; stir until completely dissolved and smooth.
- Cream together margarine and shortening. Add sugar gradually.
- Add egg whites and beat until light and fluffy.
- Mix in chocolate and vanilla.
- Sift together flour, salt and baking soda.
- Add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture.
- Beat until well mixed.
- Pour into 3 greased and floured pans
- and bake at 350u0b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
