Banana Split Dessert
- 2 or 3 bananas
- 1/2 gal. Neapolitan ice cream
- 1/2 c. walnut meats, chopped
- 2 c. Cool Whip
- 1 pkg. graham cracker crumbs
- 1/2 c. butter or oleo
- 2 c. or more powdered sugar
- 1 c. chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 c. evaporated milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- Cover bottom of 11 x 15-inch pan with cracker crumbs (reserve 1/2 cup for top).
- Slice bananas crosswise over crumbs.
- Place 1/2-inch thick ice cream slices over bananas.
- Freeze.
- Sprinkle with walnut meats.
- Freeze again until firm.
- Melt butter and chocolate chips.
- Add powdered sugar and evaporated milk.
- Cook until thick and smooth, stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat; add vanilla.
- Cool.
- When cold, pour over ice cream.
- Freeze until firm.
- Spread Cool Whip over chocolate layer.
- Top with reserved crumbs.
- Store in freezer.
- Remove about 10 minutes before serving.
- Keep frozen.
