Ginger Cookies
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 12 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 14 teaspoon ground cloves
- 14 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 34 cup firmly packed golden brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
- 1 large egg
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Sift together flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and salt into bowl; set aside.
- Combine butter, brown sugar, orange zest, and egg in large bowl.
- Using electric mixer set on high speed, beat until light and fluffy.
- Reduce speed to low, add flour mixture and mix until well blended.
- Pack dough into cookie press,.
- Fit with desired plate.
- Press dough out onto ungreased baking sheets spacing cookies 1 1/2 inches apart.
- Bake until just firm to touch, about 10 minutes.
- Transfer cookies to wire racks to cool.
- Store in airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
