Butter Letter Pastry Recipe
- 1 lb Butter
- 4 c. Flour
- 1 c. Water
- 1 lb Almond paste
- 2 c. Sugar
- 3 x Large eggs
- Work butter, flour and water like pie dough and chill overnight.
- Divide dough into 6 parts after refrigeration.
- Mix together almond paste, sugar and Large eggs.
- Form a soft paste and chill overnight.
- After refrigeration, divide mix into 6 parts.
- Roll dough into thin long strips (6 of these).
- Put filling paste into a long strip down the middle of the dough.
- Roll up dough and paint with egg whites.
- You may leave dough as long shapes or possibly form into crescent shape.
- Butter letter should be placed on ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake 20 to 25 min at 350 degrees.
- They should be golden when finished.
