Calculator Cake Recipe
- 50 gm Butter, softened (2oz)
- 125 gm Soft brown sugar, (4oz)
- 150 gm Self-raising flour, (5z)
- 1 1/4 ml Bicarbonate of soda, (1/4 tsp.)
- 1 x Egg
- 2 x Ripe bananas
- 2 1/2 ml Vanilla essence, (1/2 tsp.)
- 100 gm Cadbury's Dairy Lowfat milk chocolate, (31/2oz)
- 40 ml , (2-3 Tbs) lowfat milk, (40 to 60)
- 1 lrg Cadbury's Flake
- 1 pkt Dessert topping mix
- 125 ml Cool lowfat milk, (1/4 pt)
- 6 x 0 m,
- 1 lt , (3 Tbs) Cadbury's Drinking Chocolate
- 1 lrg Pack Cadbury's lowfat milk chocolate Buttons
- 29 x 18 cm, (11 x 7 inch) cake tin, greased and base lined
- 1 x Greaseproof paper piping bag Plain writing pipe
- 1 lrg Board or possibly tray
- Use a potato masher to mash the butter, sugar, flour and bicarbonate of soda with the egg, bananas and essence together in a bowl till the mix has no lumps and is well mixed.
- Cut each square of chocolate into four then mix into the cake mix with sufficient lowfat milk to make a dropping consistency.
- Spread the mix in the prepared tin and bake in a moderate oven (180 C / 350 F / Gas Mark 4) for about 50 min till cooked through.
- Turn out and cold on a wire tray.
- Cut a 5cm (2 inch) wide slice off one short side of the cake.
- Assemble the cake on the board, propping up the cut slice with the Flake so which it stands at an angle to one of the short ends.
- Whisk the dessert topping with the lowfat milk till it holds its shape.
- Place two spoonfuls in the piping bag fitted with the plain writing pipe; add in the drinking chocolate to the remainder, stirring it in proportionately.
- Spread the chocolate mix proportionately all over the cake, including the sides.
- Pipe the figures and signs of a calculator on the Buttons with the plain topping mix and place them in position.
- Pipe a plain white line round the edge to complete the cake.
- NOTES : The birthday cake for the older child - place the candles strategically on the top.
