Marinara and Pesto Sauce with Sausage
- 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
- 1/2 cups Diced Onion
- 1/2 pounds Italian Sausage, Casings Removed
- 1 teaspoon Chopped Garlic
- 1/2 cups Dry Red Wine
- 1 jar (24 Oz. Size) Marinara Sauce
- 3 Tablespoons Pesto Or To Taste
- Salt And Pepper, to taste
- Red Pepper Flakes To Taste (optional)
- 1/2 pounds Pasta
- Parmesan Cheese, To Serve
- Preheat a large saute pan (I like to use one with tall sides) with olive oil over medium heat.
- Saute onions until soft.
- Add sausage and brown, breaking into small peices.
- Add garlic and cook just until fragrant, about 30-45 seconds.
- Add red wine to the sausage, onions and garlic, scraping up any brown bits from the bottom of the pan.
- Add your favorite marinara sauce and pesto, adding more to taste.
- Heat through and season with salt and pepper if needed.
- I also like to add some red pepper flakes.
- Cook pasta according to package directions.
- Drain well.
- Pour sauce over pasta, garnish with Parmesan cheese and serve!
