M & M Festive Caramel Bars Recipe
- 32 individually wrapped caramel squares
- 2/3 c. (5 1/3 ounce. can) evaporated lowfat milk
- 1 c. flour
- 1 c. quick oats, uncooked
- 1 c. minced nuts
- 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 c. butter, melted
- 1 1/2 c. M & M plain chocolate candies
- Combine caramels and lowfat milk in heavy saucepan; cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, till caramels are melted and mix is well blended.
- Combine flour, oats, nuts, sugar, soda and salt; add in butter, mixing till mix resembles coarse crumbs.
- Reserve 1 c.; press remaining mix onto bottom of greased 13"x9" baking pan.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 10 min.
- Sprinkle 1 c. candies over partially baked crust; add in remaining candies.
- Continue baking 20 to 25 min or possibly till golden.
- Cold slightly; refrigerate3 min.
- Cut into bars.
