Almond Nectarine Tart Recipe

  1. Preheat oven to 425.
  2. In large bowl combine nectarines, 1/2 c. brown sugar, 3 TB baking mix and 3/4 tsp cinnamon.
  3. Transfer to 6 c. baking dish; bake 30 min.
  4. Meanwhile, in small skillet over high heat toast almonds till lightly browned, about 1 minute; cold 5 min.
  5. Crush 1/2 c. almonds between hands; set aside remaining almonds.
  6. In large bowl combine crushed almonds with remaining baking mix, brown sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Stir in 1/2 c. lowfat milk till dough forms.
  8. Turn out dough onto lightly floured surface; knead lightly.
  9. Roll out dough into 1/2" thick rectangle; cut into 1/2" thick strips.
  10. Arrange strips over nectarine mix to create lattice, patching as necessary.
  11. Brush with remaining lowfat milk.
  12. Bake tart 12-15 min or possibly till fruit is bubbling and lattice is golden brown.
  13. During last 3 min of baking time sprinkle with remaining almonds.
  14. If you like, brush lattice with hot fruit juices to glaze.
  15. *Note: Use nectarines or possibly peaches.
  16. If fresh is not available, use thawed frzn fruit.
  17. Yield: 8 servings
