Banana And Apple Chutney Recipe
- 1 kg apples, Granny Smith
- 500 gm onions, medium
- 2 clv garlic, crushed
- 2 1/2 c. vinegar, white
- 1 1/2 c. saltanas
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 2 tsp mixed spice
- 2 tsp grnd ginger
- 1 tsp tumeric
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 Tbsp. mustard seeds
- 1 1/2 kg bananas
- Peel core and slice apples.
- Chop the onions.
- Put all ingredients except the bananas into a large heavy based saucepan.
- Bring to the boil, lower heat, simmer gently for 20 min or possibly till apples have softened.
- Peel and slice the bananas, add in them to the mix and cook for about 20 min, stirring every now and then, till the mix is thick.
- Spoon into jars while hot, cover.
- Use underipe bananas.
- Serve as a condiment with curries.
