Bratwurst on a Bun Topped with Bistro-Braised Cabbage
- Braised Cabbage:
- 4 tsp. vegetable oil
- 1-1/2 qt. red cabbage, shredded
- 1-1/2 cups red onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp. caraway seed
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. black pepper
- 1 cup red wine
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 cup Kraft Sauce Works Dijon Bistro Sauce
- Bratwurst:
- 16 each bratwurst links (4 oz.)
- 16 each pretzel hot dog buns, split, toasted
- Braised Cabbage: Heat oil in large pan on medium heat.
- Saute cabbage, onions, caraway seed and seasonings 5 min.
- Deglaze pan with wine.
- Stir in sugar.
- Braise mixture on low heat 15 to 20 min.
- or until tender.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in Bistro Sauce.
- Keep warm until ready to use.
- For each serving: Grill bratwurst on medium heat 10 to 15 min.
- or until done (160F 71C), turning frequently.
- Fill 1 bun with 1 cooked bratwurst.
- Top with 1/4 cup (50 mL) Braised Cabbage.
