Meat And Cabbage Rolls Recipe
- 1/2 c. rice
- 1 1/4 c. lowfat milk
- 1 lg. head cabbage
- 1 pound grnd beef
- 1/4 pound grnd pork
- 1 c. lowfat milk
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. warm water
- Cook rice in 1 1/4 c. lowfat milk over low heat till fluffy.
- Remove cabbage leaves from head and immerse in boiling, salted water; cook till partially translucent/soft and pliable: drain.
- Combine meats with 1 c. lowfat milk, salt, pepper and rice; mix thoroughly.
- Spoon meat mix on each leaf; roll and tie.
- Brown rolls in warm fat; sprinkle with brown sugar; add in water; cover and cook slowly about 2 hrs.
- Thicken broth for gravy.
- Makes 6 servings.
