Banana Toffee And Pear Crumble Recipe
- 500 gm hard pears peeled and cut info 56 slices
- 50 gm plus 1 tbsp light muscovado sugar lemon juice
- 4 x bananas thickly sliced
- 4 x heaped tbsp dulce de leche (or possibly caramelised condensed lowfat milk)
- 100 gm plainflour
- 50 gm butter
- 50 gm porridge oats
- 25 gm walnuts minced
- 3 x thsp sunflower oil
- Place the pears in a saucepan with 1 tbsp sugar and I tbsp lemon juice.
- Cook covered for 510 min till just tender.
- Remove the lid and continue cooking for 23 min.
- Place the bananas in an oven dish.
- Top with the toffee spreading all over.
- Tip over the pears and any juices.
- Place the flour in a bowl rub in the butter then stir in the oats nuts and remaining sugar.
- Add in the oil and combine well.
- Tip this over the pears and press down gendy.
- Bake in a preheated oven (200C/400F/Gas Mark 6) for about 45 min till golden.
- Leave for at least 10 min then serve hot with oodles of custard.
- Argentinian dulce de leche is imported by Merchant Gourmet and is available in selected Sainsburys Tesco and Waitrose.
- Alternatively boil an unopened can of condensed lowfat milk for 2 1/2 3 hrs.
