Vickys Homemade 'Sprite', 'Cream Soda' and 'Cola', Gluten, Dairy, Egg & Soy-Free
- 200 grams sugar
- 480 ml water
- 60 ml simple syrup
- 360 ml sparkling / carbonated water
- 2 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 1/2 tbsp lime juice
- 60 ml simple syrup
- 360 ml sparkling / carbonated water
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 950 ml water
- 2 large whole oranges zest only
- 2 lemons zest only
- 2 limes zest only
- 1 cinnamon stick, crushed
- 1 fresh nutmeg, grated
- 1 star anise pod, crushed
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh ginger
- 1 vanilla bean / pod, halved and opened
- 1000 grams granulated sugar
- 200 grams light brown sugar
- Put the sugar and water for the simple syrup into a pan and heat gently until the sugar has dissolved.
- Don't boil it, it doesn't need to reduce
- Let it cool and chill in the fridge until needed.
- This makes more than required so you'll have extra in the fridge for when you make more drinks
- Simply mix the ingredients for the sprite or cream soda together and pour over ice
- So delicious and easy you'll never buy these fizzy pops again!
- Each recipe above gives 2 servings
- The cola syrup recipe is as follows :
- Bring all the ingredients except for the sugars to a gentle simmer for 10 minutes, covered, in a large pan
- Add the sugars and let dissolve then remove from the heat and let cool a little
- Line a sieve with a double layer of cheesecloth/muslin
- Place it over a large bowl and drain the cola syrup through it
- Pour into a bottle and refrigerate when completely cooled
- Mix 60mls of cola syrup with 120mls carbonated water, serve over ice
- The cola syrup should be enough to give you 14 servings
